Firm control is the highest level of shaping. This kind of shapewear can genuinely correct the silhouette, smooth the tummy and thighs, define the waist, and the garment on top falls far better.

The price for that is comfort. The strongest models are made for an occasion, not for a whole day – that is not a flaw but a deliberate design choice. If you are looking for something for everyday wear, choose moderate or light control instead: those shape more gently but are far more comfortable to wear from morning till night.

The most important thing is where the garment ends. Firm control compresses hard, so the edge must not fall exactly on the area you want to shape. Briefs will not work if your hips are wider or your tummy protrudes a little: instead of a smooth line they will create a new one where you do not want it.

The most universal choice is a bodysuit with shorts. It suits almost everyone. If the garment leaves the shoulders bare, high-waisted shorts are a good alternative.

There is no single rule about size – it depends on the manufacturer. Usually you need your normal size, but sometimes a smaller one genuinely fits better.
